I first made this Organic All Natural Lavender Sunscreen for my Cousin Aci & her kids Alai and Noah as they live in Laguna Beach and spend a lot of time at the beach. Formulated with powerful antioxidants, it helps against free radical and oxidative damage. This Organic All Natural Lavender Sunscreen was designed to hydrate, protect and to avoid commercial brands.

This zinc oxide formula reflects the harmful rays keeping you and your family safe and healthy. I use an organic NON-NANO Zinc oxide to take this up to an SPF 45+. It is so important that the zinc is non-nano because nanoparticles are smaller than your pores and the zinc will get into your bloodstream, you don't want that and we take special care to make sure that we always provide the best and most effective ingredients. This recipe uses non nano zinc oxide. This type of zinc oxide has particles that are too big to sink deeply into skin, and that’s good! It creates a physical barrier that protects both the top layer and deeper layers of skin from the sun’s damage.

I've personally tested this blend in 100-degree weather with no shade. It lasted about 3 hours and then I reapplied-all while being in the pool!

• Lavender: flea & mosquitoes repellent, analgesic, antibacterial, antipruritic (anti-itch), sedative, calming, gentle, very relaxing, deodorizing properties. Helps with allergies, burns, wounds and itching. Also helps promote peaceful sleep (something that’s a bit difficult with chest congestion).

Ingredients properties:

• Shea butter: moisturizing properties. It helps heal, sooth, soften, and hydrate dry, itchy, and irritated skin. In addition, shea butter is a natural sun protectant and conditions the fur to maintain and boost shine. Low-medium conditioning lather.
• Coconut oil - SPF 4-10: anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, antipruritic (anti-itch), deodorizing properties. Safest, most effective moisturizers and dandruff reducer. It helps heal, sooth, soften, and hydrate dry skin. It helps skin conditions.
• Chamomile flowers: antioxidant, anti-Inflammatory and pain-reducing properties, calming, fights anxiety, promotes skin's health. smell clean and floral with a touch of sweet citrus.

• Olive oil: natural conditioner, nourishing properties. It makes skin soft, and is loaded with antioxidants to keep the skin healthy. It can also improve blood circulation to the skin.
• Hemp oil: highly moisturizing properties, gentle cleanser that leaves the skin smooth and glowing, soothes sunburns, helps with sensitive skin and skin conditions.
• Vitamin E oil: antioxidant, skin loving properties, including its ability to protect the skin from free radicals.

• Beeswax: moisturizing, softening, antipruritic (anti-itch) properties. It contains esters, fatty acids, vitamin A. It provides some natural curative properties. It is sourced from specific types of honey bees that use it in the building of their hives. Beeswax is added to make the sunscreen waterproof.
• Raspberry seeds oil - SPF 28-40: highly moisturizing and emollient, great anti-oxidant properties, fruity aroma. It contains high amounts of alpha and gamma tocopherols (Vitamin E), polyphenols and Vitamin C. It is also rich in Vitamin A and contains up to 83% omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. It has more pronounced anti-inflammatory properties than avocado, grapeseed, hazelnut and wheatgerm oils and may prove to be the most effective oil to use in the treatment of eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions. Due to a high level of Vitamin A it can also be beneficial in on oily and acneic skin types. Its strong antioxidant, nourishing and healing properties along with a stable shelf life make it an attractive ingredient for many types of skincare products.
• Carrot seeds oil - SPF 30-40: great antispetic properties, woody, earthy sweet smell. Powerful Antioxidant. The pharmocologically active constituents of carrot seed extract are three flavones: luteolin, luteolin 3'-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside, and luteolin 4'-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside. Helps Kill Fungi and Bacteria. Supports Skin and Hair Health.
• Non-Nano Zinc Oxide: Zinc is a powered mineral that sits on top of the skin. It can stand alone as a sunblock because it is truly effective against UVA, UVB and even UVC rays. It has been widely used in diaper creams because of its safety and effectiveness. The biggest concern with nano particles in cosmetics is the threat of inhalation when they are used in zinc oxide powder and sprays. This is not a concern with zinc because it is put in a lotion or balm. The environmental organization highly recommends a NANO based product over a chemical one for this reason.
• SPF – or Sun Protection Factor – is a measure of a sunscreen's ability to prevent UVB from damaging the skin. Here's how it works: If it takes 20 minutes for your unprotected skin to start turning red, using an SPF 15 sunscreen theoretically prevents reddening 15 times longer – about five hours. SPF does not equal the amount of protection. It indicates how long will it take for the skin to redden when a particular product is applied, as compared to unprotected skin.
